Matana Beach Resort is a small and friendly ‘Getaway Resort’ located off the beaten track but easily accessible from Kadavu airport. Come and stay with us to experience authentic Fijian culture, awesome diving and snorkeling or just a relaxed beach holiday at one of Kadavu’s best beaches. Matana Beach Resort is conveniently located 10 minutes by boat from the airport in Vunisea, on the northern side of Kadavu. Alongside a beautiful beach, we offer comfortable and spacious accommodation in 10 Beachfront or Oceanview bures. All bures have their own bathrooms, a sun deck/porch and an open plan bedroom/living room area, or a lounge and 2 separate bedrooms, ideal for families or small groups. All meals are included in the package price as well as free tea and coffee and are available in the dining area inside the main bure or on the elevated deck. You have a choice of Fijian or international cuisine and we cater for most dietary requirements.

Kadavu Island is still untouched by major development and with two traditional villages next to the resort, this is the place to experience authentic Fijian lifestyle and culture. Visit the local school, a Sunday church service, watch a rugby game with the locals or join them for some kava. Other activities include sea kayaking, fishing, nature walks with bird-watching, beach volleyball and cultural evenings. If you do not want to do anything, that’s perfectly alright too! Just grab a book from our large library, watch the world go by in one of the hammocks or enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine from our Beach Bar.

The all-tide beach with easy access to great snorkeling sites is just steps from the bures. You will be amazed at the variety of marine life on the coral bommies.

Dive Kadavu is our on-site PADI dive-center. With an abundance of tropical fish, brilliantly coloured soft and hard corals, walls and swim-throughs on over 40 dive sites, you can expect the best of diving. Most of the sites are a short boat ride away on the beautiful Namalata Reef but we also dive on the Great Astrolabe and Nabukelevu-i-ra reefs and in the Motu marine-protected area. We offer a range of dive courses for those who want to learn to dive or improve their diving skills. The ‘training pool’ is the warm, clear water of the South Pacific Ocean right in front of the resort – perfect to start exploring the awesome underwater world.
