Tamarillo Active Travel has been guiding sea-kayaking tours in Fiji’s remote Kadavu archipelago since 1998. The sea-kayaking takes place within one of the world’s largest barrier reefs. This natural, protective feature shelters the island group, and creates a generally calm environment for sea-kayaking and snorkeling.
Tours range in duration from one to seven days, with longer trips available on request. Accommodation options include the best resorts in Kadavu and home-stays in traditional Fijian villages. No camping is required. Each evening guests are able to rinse off the sand, salt-spray and sun-block under a shower, and sleep in clean sheets on comfortable beds. Tamarillo is Fiji’s only sea-kayak company offering no-camping tours.
Tamarillo Active Travel’s sea-kayak Fiji trips combine paddling, snorkeling, hiking and authentic experiences of Fijian culture. This all takes place in the remote, safe, peaceful environment of Kadavu, far from mainstream tourism. Each trip is flexible enough to allow for a wide range of fitness levels. Past guests have ranged in age from 3 to 78 years.
A support boat is provided to carry the luggage, to go ahead and set up delicious picnics on beautiful beaches, and to offer a ride to weary sea-kayakers when needed. Tamarillo’s guides include indigenous Kadavu islanders and New Zealand-based professionals. Bookings and administration are handled by Tamarillo’s office staff in Wellington, NZ.
